{"id":17890,"date":"2014-11-11T17:56:42","date_gmt":"2014-11-11T16:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basurama.org\/?p=17890"},"modified":"2014-11-11T17:58:13","modified_gmt":"2014-11-11T16:58:13","slug":"in-love-we-trash-in-the-world-design-capital-2014-cape-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.basurama.org\/en\/2014\/11\/11\/in-love-we-trash-in-the-world-design-capital-2014-cape-town\/","title":{"rendered":"In Love We Trash in the World Design Capital 2014 Cape Town."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/basurama.org\/en\/\">Basurama<\/a><\/strong>, in collaboration with the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.exteriores.gob.es\/Embajadas\/PRETORIA\/en\/Pages\/inicio.aspx\">Spanish Embassy in South Africa<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greatmoreart.org\/greatmore_studio\/Home.html\">Greatmore Studios<\/a><\/strong>, will be one of the last of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wdccapetown2014.com\/\">World Design Capital<\/a><\/strong> project\u2019s in the public arena of <strong>Cape Town<\/strong> this November.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/basurama.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/In-Love-We-Trash-Map.jpg\">In Love We Trash<\/a><\/strong><\/em> encompasses a public art project and its process of reflection on waste, consumption and public space. Together with empowered local communities and trained creators we aim to raise new collective points of view, reflection and research on the cities of today.<\/p>\n<p>Several researches reveal that around <strong>3.500 plastic particles<\/strong> per square kilometre exist along the <strong>South African coasts<\/strong>. The analyses made on 50 of the South African beaches show that plastic pollution has increased by 190% in the last five years. More than 90% of all articles found on these beaches were made out of plastic. Plastic is now found on practically all South African beaches<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>In Love We Trash<\/em><\/strong> embodies a better way to understand how to work with what is readily available around us, leftover materials or underused public spaces. Plastic waste can be a new and valuable category of resources; it is both a form of infrastructure and a source of information to understand consumer society.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>In Love We Trash<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>has thus far participated in over\u00a010 countries across 4 continents,\u00a0with the participation\u00a0of\u00a0over 40.000 citizens. Each intervention is specifically designed for the city in which it is located.
